What commission is costing you
Put in what your site takes in a year and how many pitches you have. This works out what every UK booking route would charge you for the same year, from their own published prices, and shows the sum so you can check it.

Sorted cheapest first. That is 250 bookings a year at the booking value you gave. Setup fees are counted in the first year only. CampManager does not publish a price, so there is nothing honest to put in its row, and Booking.com's rate is an estimate because they negotiate it per property and publish nothing.
Prices as published by each provider, checked 20 August 2026. If one of these has changed, tell us at hello@pitchdesk.co.uk and we will correct it.
What this calculation assumes
Everything here is arithmetic on published prices. There is no modelling and no guesswork, so you should be able to reproduce every line with a calculator.
- Commission is charged on the share of bookings you said arrives through a listing site. Set it to 100% to see the worst case.
- Where a provider quotes commission plus VAT, the figure includes VAT at 20% unless you told us you are VAT registered and can reclaim it.
- Pitchup's 15% already includes VAT. A VAT registered site reclaims 2.5 points of it and pays 12.5%.
- Monthly software prices are multiplied by twelve. Nobody in the table publishes a discount for paying yearly.
- Setup fees are added to the first year and never again.
- Card processing is left out of every row, because you pay Stripe whichever route the booking takes. Hipcamp's own worked example shows their 15% and Stripe's 1.7% coming out of the same £100, which is 16.7% of the booking.
- Prices were checked on 20 August 2026.
The honest recommendation
If a listing site brings you bookings you would not otherwise have had, keep it. The 15% on a stranger is the cost of finding that stranger.
What is worth changing is the other half: the guest who stayed last year and knows your name. Give them somewhere on your own website to book and pay, and the commission on those bookings goes to nothing.
One thing the arithmetic will not show you
Pitchup, Booking.com and Hipcamp all require your own website to be no cheaper than their listing, so the only lever left is convenience: somewhere to book on your own page, at the same price.
