What Stripe charges, said plainly

Taking a card payment costs money and we are not going to bury it. Stripe charges you directly, on your own Stripe account. That fee is never paid to PitchDesk and we take nothing on top of it.

On a £180 booking paid by a UK card, Stripe's fee is £2.72 and you keep £177.28. The same booking through a listing site at 15% costs you £27 in commission and you would still be paying a card fee somewhere in the chain.

Stripe pays out to your bank on their normal schedule. If you refund a guest, you do it from your own dashboard or from PitchDesk, and the refund comes out of your balance.

Stripe publish these rates themselves and can change them. We show them here because you should see the true cost of taking a booking before you sign up.

Stripe's published card rates

CardFee per payment
UK cards1.4% + 20p
European Economic Area cards2.5% + 20p
Cards from anywhere else3.25% + 20p
Paid by you to Stripe, out of your own account. PitchDesk never handles it and adds nothing to it.

Worked example on a £180 booking

£180 × 1.4% = £2.52, plus 20p, is £2.72 to Stripe. Your PitchDesk cost for that booking is nothing, because the £7.99 has already been paid for the month.

Thirty days free, then cancel whenever you like

You get 30 days without giving us a card. Put your real pitches and real prices in, connect Stripe, take a live booking from a real guest, and keep the money. If it does not suit you, do nothing and the account stops.

When you do subscribe it is £7.99 a month on a rolling basis. Cancel from your own settings page and it stops at the end of the month you have paid for. Nobody makes you ring up.

Your bookings stay readable after you cancel and you can export them to a spreadsheet. Because every payment was taken on your own Stripe account, cancelling PitchDesk changes nothing about money already taken or refunds still to come.

What we will never do

  • Take a percentage of a booking
  • Charge you per booking
  • Charge more because you added pitches
  • Hold your guests' money in our account
  • Put your prices on a marketplace of our own
  • Require rate parity with anyone

Moving in from another system

Send us the bookings you already hold as a spreadsheet during the trial and we will help you load them, so your calendar is right from the first day you go live. That does not cost anything either.

Commission rows assume every booking comes through that listing site, which for most sites it does not. Put your own share in on the calculator. Commission is shown at what it actually costs a site that is not VAT registered, because a site taking £40,000 is below the £90,000 registration threshold and cannot reclaim any of it. Card processing is left out of every row, because you pay Stripe whichever route the booking takes.

Billing questions

Is there anything on top of the £7.99?
No. £7.99 is what leaves your bank each month. The only other cost of taking a booking is Stripe's card fee, which you pay to Stripe.
Do I pay more as I add pitches?
No. Three pitches or three hundred, it is £7.99 a month. That is the difference between us and every per pitch system in the table above.
What happens if a guest charges back?
It is your Stripe account, so the chargeback is yours to fight, with the evidence in your dashboard: the terms the guest ticked, the version they agreed to, the time they agreed at, and the booking record. We do not sit between you and Stripe on it.
Do you take a cut of the deposit?
No. Deposits are charged on your Stripe account like any other payment. The whole deposit is yours the moment it clears.
What if I only open for four months a year?
Cancel in October and start again in March. You would pay £7.99 for the months you use. Your pitches, rates and past bookings are still there when you come back.
Can I pay yearly?
Not at the moment. It is £7.99 a month, which comes to £95.88 over twelve months.
Do I need my own Stripe account?
Yes, and that is deliberate. You need to be the merchant of record so the money is yours from the second it is taken. Opening one takes about ten minutes and needs your bank details and some ID.
