PitchDesk and Bedful

Both of us charge no commission, which already puts both of us ahead of a listing site for a booking you would have had anyway. The difference is the shape of the price: Bedful charges per pitch and asks for a setup fee, and we charge one flat £7.99 a month.

The published prices

Bedful's published price is £20 a month plus £1 per camping pitch, plus £100 setup. So a ten pitch site pays £20 plus £10 a month, which is £360 over a year, and £100 more in the first year for setup.

PitchDesk is £7.99 a month at ten pitches, at thirty and at three hundred. £95.88 a year, and nothing to start.

The gap widens as you add pitches, because one of the two prices moves with the size of your site and the other does not. That is the entire comparison, and you can check it with a calculator.

Where Bedful is the better buy

An established booking system with a longer track record than ours, and no commission either. It has been in this market longer than we have, and there are owners who have been running on it for years. If you want the system with the longer track record, that is a reasonable thing to want and we are the newer product.

They also charge no commission, so if you are moving off a listing site, either of us solves the expensive problem. The £7.99 is what you save after that.

The setup fee, plainly

A setup fee is a one-off, so it stops mattering in year three. It matters a lot in year one, when you are still deciding whether online booking suits you at all.

We do not charge one, and the first 30 days are free, so the cost of finding out whether this works for your site is nothing.

What both of us do that a listing site does not

Take the booking on your own website, under your own terms, with the payment on your own merchant account and no percentage taken out of it.

Questions

Is the cheaper one the better one?

Not on its own. £288 a year of difference at twelve pitches is real money for a CL and small change for a park taking £200,000. Look at what each system does with pitch allocation, deposits and your terms, take both free trials, and then let the price break the tie.

Do you both use Stripe?

We connect your own Stripe account and take direct charges on it with no application fee, so the money never sits with us. Ask any supplier whose merchant account the card payment lands in. It is the question that decides who owns the refund, the chargeback and the money if the supplier goes under.

What if I have both camping pitches and glamping units?

Ours is one price for everything you can book, whatever you call it. Check how any per pitch price treats glamping units before you compare the two numbers.
